moonlight 2.0 is coming

We’re doing beta1 of Moonlight 1.0 very, very soon.  We’re hoping a beta2 won’t be necessary and we’ll get 1.0 out the door in short order.

In order to hit the ground running with 2.0, we’ve started collecting a list of tasks that need to happen to get the 2.0 support to the point where we can run all those cool .xap sites out there.

It’s on the mono wiki here.  Right now it’s just a dumping ground of whatever comes to mind - big umbrella features like “DataBinding” down to individual controls.

We’re doing this partly so we can start figuring out team members will work on as we finish up the 1.0 push, and partly to resolve dependencies so we can make sure to get the plumbing done before the higher levels block on it.

But this is also the perfect time for contributors to step up and own something.  We’ve been rather insular (but certainly not closed) for the 1.0 release, and unless you were on the irc channel 24 hours a day like most of the team, you had little  chance in keeping up with scheduling and updates.  We’re going to try and open up things in 2.0 a bit more, since it’s so much larger, and there’s more self-contained subsystems.  This means there’s a much clearer way to contribute something tangible to what I consider to be one of the funnest open source projects I’ve ever worked on.
