A couple of weeks ago I was fooling around the the <canvas> stuff in firefox, and wanted an involved test of it animating something. I couldn’t find one, so I ported one of the xscreensaver modules, “ifs”, to javascript.
I had to dial down the number of points it was computing, because at the default levels used by the screensaver module it was just too slow in javascript. To counteract the lack of points, I made it slowly fade out instead of clearing the buffer on every redraw.
So, it doesn’t look exactly the same, but it looks pretty cool anyway.
Can anyone recommend a deep, deep tissue massage person? I mean someone that will pretty much hurt me. This past month of awful posture and bike riding has left my neck and shoulders so tight it feels like I’m wearing a snug collar all the time. Not fun.
Oh, they need to be in SF.
I was seeing this:
64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=92 ttl=64 time=28051 ms
that’s ping time from laptop to access point. There’s noone else on this channel, very few wireless networks visible, etc. also, signal strength is really high. So it’s not the 802.11. Also, the same latency was being seen by the machine connected via cat5 to the access point.
Randomly, I think “hm, I should pay my cable bill.”
I pay it, and not 5 minutes later, i’m down to:
64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=19 ttl=64 time=1.37 ms
a more paranoid man would of course imagine a connection.
I wonder if it says something that a girl I went on a couple of dates with told me that I reminded her of a Red House Painters sound, “Song for a Blue Guitar”. It apparently struck her so immediately that she felt moved to burn a copy of the cd for me, bringing it to our second (and last, but that has nothing to do with the cd) date.
Seems like everyone is having babies lately. Both my sisters recently gave birth to sons. Now they each have a pair, one boy, one girl. My parents of course could not be happier. Jealous, I almost miss the questions about when I’m going to be starting a family of my own. Jen and Dan just had their second, Peter and Jen’s was due a week ago or something, and my ex-fiance’s is due next month. J&J also are due coming up. Crazy.
Almost reminds me of the post I made 2 years ago, maudlin and playing at poetry.
My posture has been absolutely awful for the past month. I’ve been working like a dog. On the one hand, I’m knee deep in MS’s databinding apis trying to make sense of how it’s all constructed in order to reimplement it, and on the other, I’m working on a project that I really believe will change everything. So little time for anything else, like sleep.
I’ve been relative quiet about my AIDS ride training, mostly because it’s been frustrating and I’ve been completely unmotivated to train much after a long bout with a flu that had me bedridden for about a week, sicker than I can ever remember being. I’m sure when I was a youngster I was that sick, but I mean I couldn’t even work, and given how easily my head fits around that stuff, it says a lot.
Anyway, I’ll post a training update soon. I still plan on riding though, so go here to donate
I just used Iyengar’s Light on Yoga to smash a bug.
hmm.
