just call me magnum

Did second series again yesterday afternoon. It’s so weird how much the dhanurasanas wipe me out. I’m pouring sweat after them. Moreso than at any other point in the series. After them, a few shaky backbends, then kapotasana, with my hands inching toward my toes. I’ll have them soon. That feels pretty cool. Karandavasana is also feeling great. The extra hip openers before practicing (particular on the left side) have been helping immensely getting into lotus up there. I did it twice, the first time lowering most of the way down on an exhale and coming right back up on the following inhale. For the second attempt I tried going all the way down. I managed it, but there was no way I was coming back up. The whole forearm balance thing is a relatively new development for me. I never had the confidence, nor strength in my shoulders and back for the necessary stability, to really feel comfortable with it. It’s a nice change.

Got on the mat this morning, but just wasn’t up for it. Ended up just laying on my back in the sun, eyes closed, for 30 or 45 minutes, trying to think happy thoughts for my friend. Leave it to my ego to turn wonderful news into a thoroughly predictable sucker punch. Anyway..

Just a proof of concept at the moment. It’ll take a lot more to get things working in a vs2005 kinda way. But here’s an initial teaser screenshot:

from mud to miracle

I walked out the door this morning and it stood there for a minute, relishing the feeling of humidity. I could feel the hairs on my arms and legs move as my skin relaxed in the warmth. It’s the first time in months where I was warmer outside than in. It felt wonderful. And judging by the throngs of people I saw walking around outside, I was not the only one who thought so.

Even with the stiff, sometimes chilly breeze that is a Kendall regular, even with the threat of rain looming somewhere, I smile. Spring is here.

the pizza slice arms race

toshok | journal | Wednesday, March 8th, 2006

Yesterday I ordered 2 slices at Emma’s. They gave me 3.

Today I ordered 3 slices. They gave me 4.

I told this to miguel and he responded with “Now I understand American obesity.”

I wrote a little gdb macro that can be used to dump out the current stack and show managed methods right alongside unmanaged ones.

You can find it here.
