just call me magnum
Did second series again yesterday afternoon. It’s so weird how much the dhanurasanas wipe me out. I’m pouring sweat after them. Moreso than at any other point in the series. After them, a few shaky backbends, then kapotasana, with my hands inching toward my toes. I’ll have them soon. That feels pretty cool. Karandavasana is also feeling great. The extra hip openers before practicing (particular on the left side) have been helping immensely getting into lotus up there. I did it twice, the first time lowering most of the way down on an exhale and coming right back up on the following inhale. For the second attempt I tried going all the way down. I managed it, but there was no way I was coming back up. The whole forearm balance thing is a relatively new development for me. I never had the confidence, nor strength in my shoulders and back for the necessary stability, to really feel comfortable with it. It’s a nice change.
Got on the mat this morning, but just wasn’t up for it. Ended up just laying on my back in the sun, eyes closed, for 30 or 45 minutes, trying to think happy thoughts for my friend. Leave it to my ego to turn wonderful news into a thoroughly predictable sucker punch. Anyway..
