sunsets
Tina has taken perhaps the most beautiful sunset photo I’ve ever seen.
Underexposed foreground, dark clouds above. I’m impressed with how much depth the photo has.

Normally when I’ve eaten dim sum in the past, I leave the restaurant either thoroughly disgusted with the food, or thoroughly disgusted with the people I accompanied to the restaurant. Normally there is physical discomfort along with intent to become a vegetarian.
Today wasn’t bad though. Noone slurping up the beef tripe sitting next to me. No dumplings that should have been accompanied by little pieces of paper saying “we’re not sure what’s in here, but it ain’t chicken.” No strangely gooey “meat”.
Ate with Aaron and Meghan and Pete and Sarah. I narrowly avoided meeting Veanne. Well, not so narrowly. I hear she’s still asleep.
I was kinda worried that come tonight I’d have no plans since, well, I didn’t. But in the past hour or so things have gelled and plans have been made and people are coming and it’ll be fun.

I screwed things up when I changed the domain name of this blog and broke comments. Should be all better now, sorry for lost comments.
so I’ve been resurrecting some things that used to be on toshok.org a while back. I had all my mp3s listed, and you could queue up songs for me to listen to. The system was entirely too complex, but I wrote it all in a day or two, and had fun, so yeah.
I’ve put it back up here. The cue links don’t work, and neither do the mp3 links unless you have a password (and you only get one of those if i really like you, or you ask nicely, or something.)
I’ll get the cue links working soon, and you can annoy me like peter did, adding 20 entries of Sublime’s “Santeria” to my queue.
so after … 2 months i think of off and on again hacking on this annoying code I *finally* got it to work this morning. I worked on it some last night after you were asleep and I couldn’t sleep, but, well, it ate my laptop. no really, i don’t think i’ve ever seen what happened to my laptop happen before. turns out linux doesn’t do well when you have epiphany, evolution, and multiple emacsen running, then you try and gdb firebird. nope, nuh uh. not pretty.
Anyway, after the meltdown I powered off my laptop and left it for the morning. Not 15 minutes after you left I had found my one remaining problem. I can’t believe I hadn’t seen it before. Anyway, good progress. I’m happy.
Something funny I keep thinking about. I got striped underwear for christmas. I thought they looked kinda silly, so I showed them to peter (with me in them). He mentioned that the horizontal stripes made my package look like an over ripe avocado. It’s really a shame I can’t turn that remark into a suitable pick-up line.
